Sequence of work (extract)

  1. Identify the circuit or equipment to be worked on and confirm with the person in control of the premises.
  2. Identify all possible sources of supply. Do not assume a single point of isolation.
  3. Isolate using the appropriate device and lock off with a personal lock and warning tag. The key stays with the person carrying out the work.
  4. Prove the voltage indicator against a known source or proving unit, test the isolated circuit at all relevant points, then re-prove the indicator.
  5. Only when the circuit is proved dead at the point of work may work begin.
List the isolation and lock-off equipment your business actually carries, including the model of voltage indicator and proving unit. Assessors look for this detail because it shows the procedure is real, not copied.

Why not a free template?

Free generic templates are the most common single reason first-time CHAS applications get referred. Assessors can spot a downloaded document immediately: it names no one, it describes work you do not do, and it misses the risks you actually face. You then lose weeks in the referral loop while the contract you wanted moves on.
